The Town of Okotoks provided some information about pothole repairs in its last council meeting.

On July 15th, Council provided a response to Councilor Robinson who had previously inquired about the number of potholes patched annually, the length of time required to fill the potholes, and how much it costs to fix each pothole.

So far this year, the Town has repaired around 325 potholes, for $41 per pothole, for a total cost of around $13,325.

In Okotoks, pothole repair season started on March 15th and crews will continue to repair potholes throughout the summer as they appear.

Typically, the majority of potholes are repaired by mid-July.

The Town also has a contractor doing spray patch repairs for the larger potholes and cracks around town. That contractor has repaired 7,324 m2 and has cost the Town $66,000, which is approaching the Town's $80,000 annual spray patch repairs budget.

In total, the Town spends roughly $100,000 a year on all of their potholes and spray patch repairs throughout the year, and this year they have already spent roughly $79,325.

On average, Town staff repair approximately 500 potholes each year, while contractors do roughly 9,000 m2 of spray patch repair each year.
