The AJHL Okotoks Oilers are all set for training camp this weekend at the Centennial Arena.

It gets underway Friday with practices running from 10:00 a.m. till 2:45 p.m. followed by scrimmages at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Four scrimmages are scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

And then on Sunday, they'll play an intrasquad game at 12:30 p.m. 

Sunday's game will also be streamed live on the team's social media channels.

Fans are welcome to stop by the Centennial area throughout all three days to scope out the returning players and potential new players.

The exhibition season also kicks off the following week on Friday, Sept. 1 with a home-and-home series with the Calgary Canucks. The first game on Sept. 1st is in Calgary with the return matchup on Saturday, Sept. 2 in Okotoks at the Centennial Arena.

The Oilers then take on the Brooks Bandits for three consecutive exhibition matchups. On Tuesday, Sept. 5 the teams will play in Brooks with both teams returning to Okotoks for a game on Friday, Sept. 8 and then back to Brooks for a game on Saturday, Sept. 9.

The regular season starts Friday, Sept. 15 as the Oilers travel to Canmore to take on the Eagles with the home opener the following night as they host the Eagles.

There's also a couple of big changes with the AJHL this season as they've moved to a 62-game schedule.  The North and South divisions have also been eliminated. Each team will play 13 other teams a total of four times with the remaining two teams playing against each other five times. The two additional games that have been added onto the schedule will be played at the annual AJHL Showcase.

Season tickets are on sale and the team's kept the prices for adults and seniors the same as last season and youth tickets are now even cheaper than last season. Youth can now go to an Oilers game for under $3.50.
