A Canada goose needed rescuing in Okotoks today.

The fire department was called out to Drake Landing, where a goose looked to be frozen on the surface of a storm pond.

Firefighters ventured out onto the water with an inflatable rescue boat and recovered the bird.

It seemed to have difficulty moving and was taken to the SAVE vet clinic on the south end of town.

They're keeping the goose warm, and say they plan to have someone from the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation come down to assess it soon.
