The Okotoks Bisons recently welcomed their new Head Coach, Brad Cobb.

Cobb says it's not his first time behind the bench.

"I've been Head Coach for numerous levels: Junior A, Midget AAA, Junior B, and Bantam AAA, so I've been doing it for over 20 years."

He's also been an Okotoks resident for the last seven years, moving to town in the midst of the 2013 flood.

It'll be a while until he's able to carry out the role in full.

"Obviously right now, everything's off-ice. So doing some recruiting, and we hope we can get here in the middle of August with some conditioning camps and tryout camps where we can get on ice and start working with the boys," says Cobb.

Despite the time away, Cobb says he doesn't think players and coaches will be feeling rusty, in fact, quite the opposite.

"We're probably over-prepared now! I think it'll be an easy transition to get back at it, I think everybody will be excited. There shouldn't be any hiccups, if anything, we should be more prepared with all the time off we've had as coaches to better prepare ourselves for the upcoming season."

He says it's a privilege to fill the role, and he's just as excited for the return of sports as the rest of Alberta.
