The surging Okotoks Oilers are tied atop the AJHL standings after a 6-2 win over the Brooks Bandits on the road last night.

The Oilers have now won 11 straight, including two wins over the Bandits.

Liam Freeborn set the tone less than a minute in when he got the Oilers on the board with his tenth goal of the season. The Bandits tied the game only 20 seconds later.

Jaevon Buschlen put the Oilers ahead 2-1 halfway through the first.

The Oilers broke the game open midway through the second frame when goals from Jack Works and Louis Jamernik only 22 seconds apart gave the team a three-goal lead.

Freeborn finished the night with the goal and two more assists, while Blake Jacques, Ayden Roche-Setoguchi, Eric Parker each had two assists.

Brady Parker made 20 saves on 22 shots in the Oilers net.

With a 39-6-3 record, the Oilers have 81 points in the standings to tie the Bandits, but Brooks have played one fewer game than Okotoks.

The two teams return to Okotoks Friday night in the second half of a home and home series. The winner will take sole possession of the AJHL's top spot.
