The Okotoks Oilers improved their pre-season record to 2-0 after Friday afternoon's 4-0 shutout over the Drumheller Dragons.

Carson Beers and Jacob Bernard-Docker lead the way for the green and gold notching a goal and an assist.

Beers who also dropped the mitts late with Brayden Nicholetts for the Gordie Howe Hat-trick says he felt comfortable in his first game back since last season.

"We looked really good actually there was a lot of young guys out there obviously," he says. "You could see it in the room here, they weren't talking a whole lot and then we just had to settle them down in the first five minutes we were a little sloppy but after that the boys came to play."

Also scoring for the Oilers were Jamie Ramin and Danton Davis all part of a three goal second period.

Beers says with all the newcomers in the line-up it was a different experience for him out on the ice now heading into his third season with the Oilers.

"Me and Riley Morris were just saying before the game 'Man I'm pretty nervous, I haven't played in a long time' but there is a lot of talent out there for us and a lot of good prospects. It's going to be a different curve for sure teaching the young guys how to play here in junior."

The Oilers will take on the Calgary Canucks in a rematch of last year's first round playoff match-up who also won Friday morning 4-1 over the Calgary Mustangs.

Beers says he's looking forward to facing the Canucks again.

"We played them in playoffs, you start to create a mutual dislike for each other just because you play them so often but it will be a good game they're a good team so I'm ready for the test if I do get to play and hopefully I do."

Puck-drop between the Canucks and Oilers goes at 5:30 p.m. at Pason Centennial Arena.
