The Canadian Red Cross has come forward with $150,000 for the town of High River.

It's money that was donated to them after the 2013 flood to help the town recover.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says administration brought them a list of potential projects.

They include new lights at Pioneer Square by the Post Office to allow for a possible long table dinner, and evening market or a community games night.

Other ideas are a solar Wi-Fi bench or hanging benches in parks as well as edible gardens, including one on the vacant lot next to AM 1140 and Sun Country.

Snodgrass says there was one project they need to take a further look at.

"The only one that there was concerns around was the dock at Emerson Lake and I think we have to have further discussion on that as to how it would work, who would be using it and the maintenance and everything because a floating dock, you can't leave it in all winter, the ice will tear it apart," he says. "It's only $15,000 but we've got to make sure it's $15,000 spent properly."

The Red Cross wants the money used on projects that will help community members connect with each other.

Although getting back together may be out of the question for the next while.
