A couple of local realtors are looking to support Rowan House with a book drive.

RE/MAX Realtors Krista Brown and Heather Moores are teaming up with Yooneek Books on McRae Street to collect book donations for Rowan House.

Moores says they wanted to do a collection drive of some kind but didn't want to double up on any existing food or toy drives.

A book drive sprung to mind, as did the recipient organization.

"We try and do everything supporting local and rather than doing a toy drive, we decided to do a book drive. Finding for someone local to accept it, there are a lot of great charities, but Rowan House came to mind. It's typically a lot of moms with children and literacy is a great thing to have," says Moores.

Brown says Light Up Okotoks attendees are welcome to stop by and say hi and grab a kids' swim pass, but donations will be accepted after the event.

"Feel free, bring your new or gently used books down there, or support local and buy a book there, you can buy a book and donate a book... Yooneek Books was generous enough to give us a spot for a whole week, so feel free to come in and drop off books there for the week."

They're also picking up book donations. Those interested can contact Krista at (403) 921-5750.
