Consumers are getting some positive news.

The regulated natural gas rate for February is falling by almost three dollars to $3.715 per gigajoule.

It was $6.446 per gigajoule in January.

The rate drop affects customers who are not on a special rate plan with their providers.

Because of the drop, the province's natural gas rebate won't be triggered for February, but the program remains in place in case there are price spikes in the months ahead.

The rebate is triggered anytime the rate reaches $6.50 a gigajoule.
