High River council plans to continue holding its meetings the way it has since the pandemic started.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says the decision was part of the organizational meeting.

"We've decided that we'll continue on ZOOM until, well we'll probably reassess it in December, but for right now they're on ZOOM until January," he says.

Snodgrass says they're trying to keep their own staff, along with Foothills County staff, who share the same building, as safe as possible and there's no real need to start meeting in person right now.

"The decisions in these meetings that council has, there's really not a lot of reasons for us to be physically present," he says.

He says they're trying to determine what is necessary engagement and what is unnecessary engagement and council meetings, he says, fall into the latter category.
