High River's Jason Glass came a close second to Kirk Sutherland at Wednesday night's $50,000 "Dash for Cash" finale at the Ponoka Stampede.

Sutherland coming off the four barrel, edged out Glass, who was on barrel three, by just 18/100ths of a second.

Sutherland says it was no surprise to have Glass and Evan Salmond, who was less than a second back, right on his tail in that final heat.

"I hope they're a close second all the time. They got lost of years ahead of them, they'll think the same way. Everybody's earned their spot in the later heats. You don't just get it, you earn it and if you have a lucky show, you know, you're there at the end of the shows."

High River's Jordie Fike had the 10th fastest time Wednesday night, while Okotoks Mark Sutherland was 24th.

The driver's are busy Thursday as they'll have to pack up and hustle to get themselves moved into the Stampede barns for the start of 10 days of racing at the Rangeland Derby starting Friday in Calgary.
