A check on a man found sleeping in a car in Okotoks ended in drug and weapon charges being laid.

In the early morning of Tuesday, Dec. 12, patrolling Okotoks RCMP officers located a man sleeping in a running vehicle.

His vehicle was searched during the investigation, and police located varying amounts of drugs:

  • 105 grams of methamphetamine
  • 50 grams of MDMA
  • 40 tablets of LSD
  • 150 grams of improperly packaged cannabis products
  • $445.00 cash and scales

They also found a collapsable baton, cans of bear spray, and a pellet gun.

The driver, 19-year-old Preston Desjardin of Okotoks, is now facing charges:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (x4)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

He's due to appear in court on Feb. 2, 2024.
