A Foothills resident is a million dollars richer.

Tom Jones from Foothills County was one of the six lucky Albertans who made their way to Edmonton on Thursday (May 2) to try their hand at winning a million bucks.

Jones had initially won on the Bigger Spin Scratch and Win ticket, which earned him a chance to head to the Century Casino in Edmonton to see if he could win the grand prize.

There were three games the six contestants played, being Plinko, the Big Spin, and the Bigger Spin.

Jones was one of two who got to spin the Bigger Spin for the big prize on Thursday afternoon and was the only million-dollar winner of the group.

"It hasn’t really hit me yet, but I am very excited," Jones was quoted in a media release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. "It’ll be amazing to help out my family with this!"

Jones says he will be helping his family and rebuilding his dream car, a 1971 Chevelle.

He purchased his lucky scratch-and-win ticket from a Co-op at 4705 49 Street in Barrhead in January.
