Dry conditions have led to Foothills County putting a fire restriction in place.

The restriction applies to all open fires that require a permit.

All active permits have been cancelled.

This includes fireworks, torches or lanterns with open flames, and any outdoor fires that require permits.

The restriction does not apply to residential fire pits and safe campfires in campgrounds, propane stoves/ barbeques/ propane fire pits, charcoal briquette barbeques, wood pellet smokers, incinerators for farm and acreage use, and burning barrels with screen covers.

Foothills County has stated the restriction will remain in place until dry conditions significantly improve and approval is given to lift the restriction.

The restriction was put into effect on Apr. 21.
