The High River Brewing Co. Flyers ended the regular season on a high note beating the Coaldale Copperheads 5-4.

The Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex has been the place to be the last two nights as the Flyers also extended their winning streak to seven games with the win.

The lead went back and forth like a seesaw throughout the game as the Copperheads scored first but the Flyers soared back, leading 3-1 at one point in the first period.  After 20 minutes it was 3-2 in favour of the Flyers but after 40 minutes it was all even at 4-4.

And with only 22 seconds left in the third period Quintas Mah ended up scoring the game winning goal. Mah also scored the Flyers first goal of the game. Other goal scorers were Ethan Burgeson, Alex McIsaac and McCallum Bakken, who was Friday night's overtime goal scorer.  Kashton Payne played in net for the Flyers stopping 34 of the 38 shots he faced.

The Copperheads who were fighting for the win so they could have home ice advantage heading into the HJHL playoffs would be denied by the well-disciplined Flyers.  The Flyers were only penalized once in the game, a 2-minute minor for interference midway through the third period.

The Carstar Okotoks Bisons ended up losing their final regular season game in overtime on Saturday night.

They headed to Three Hills to face the Thrashers and the Bisons ended up falling 4-3 even after outshooting the Thrashers 52-24. Bisons Adam Kirkpatrick picked up points on all three Bison goals, notching one goal and two assists in the loss.

The Herd now have a bye in the first round of the playoffs and will face the south division winner of the High River Flyers vs. Cochrane Generals series.

Game one of the Flyers-Generals series goes Tuesday Feb. 20 in Cochrane at 6:45 p.m. with game two in High River on Thursday Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. Game three, if needed, will be in Cochrane on Friday Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
