The HJHL season is well underway as the league just wrapped up week three of the 2023-24 season.

Both local teams, the Carstar Okotoks Bisons and the High River Brewing Co. Flyers won one and lost one over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

The Bisons tangled with the Cannex Cochrane Generals on Friday night with the Gens picking up a 3-2 win even though they were outshot 37-30.

The Flyers meanwhile hosted the Three Hills Thrashers on Friday and came away with a 3-1 win. The Flyers peppered 53 shots on net and held the Thrashers to only 21 shots.

And then it was a rivalry game with the Bisons hosting the Flyers on Saturday night at the Murray arena.

What a game. The rivals were knotted up at one goal each after 60 minutes, and then Okotoks scored the game winner in overtime for a 2-1 victory.

Bison's Easton Dean scored his fifth of the season for the win with assists going to Jake Snashall and Caden Scott.

The tables were turned on the Flyers as far as the shot clock goes.  The Bisons hurled 53 shots on the Flyers while High River took 29 shots on net.

The Bisons now have a 5-and-1 record while the Flyers have a 2-3-and-1 record.

The Flyers next game is this Friday as they host the Mountainview Colts with the Bisons travelling to Sylvan Lake on Saturday night.
