Five players from the Okotoks Dawgs Academy are currently competing with the Canada Junior National Team's Pro Academy Camp in the Dominican Republic, with the first game already out of the way winning 6-3 against the Houston Astros of the Dominican Summer League (DSL).

The five Dawgs players who made the trip were Eric Hartman, Micahel Yusypchuck, Tim Piasentin, Will Labonte, and Leo Cote.

Cote would get a homerun in Canada's first game of the camp in the Dominican. 

This is the 22nd year for the Dominican Pro Academy Camp having started back in 2001. The current academy teams that are taking part in the tournament are the Boston Red Sox, Canada Junior National Team, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and San Diego Padres.

The camp runs from May 13 to 21, Canada plays a doubleheader today (May 14) when they battle it out with the Boston Red Sox academy team first at 10:30 am, then play the Toronto Blue Jays academy team at 2:30 p.m.
