A fire engulfed a home over the weekend in High River.

The blaze damaged a suite at the Mundy Park Apartments.

High River Deputy Fire Chief Trevor Allan says it happened in the early morning hours.

"Saturday morning, so just after midnight actually 12:04 a.m. and the incident occurred in the 100 block of 21st Street northeast, specifically Mundy Park Apartments."

Fortunately, everyone was evacuated safely however the tenants are now temporarily homeless.

"So, right now our FCSS team has stepped in, and they are assisting the tenants of the suite that was affected by the fire. So, they're working with them. I believe they've got them at one of the local hotels here in High River."

Allan went on to explain that the crew made fairly quick work of the fire.

"We had three apparatus on scene: two engines and our ladder truck. We got a good quick knockdown, and we cleared the scene at 2:32 a.m.
