Be ready for a bit of a shock tomorrow.

Alberta's Emergency Alert system will be getting a test on March 1 at 1:55 pm.

It'll go out across cellphones, tablets, TV, and radio.

Nationwide alerts usually go out in May and November, but this one is being done in Alberta to coincide with the official start of wildfire season.

Public Safety and Emergency Services Minister Mike Ellis was quoted in a release from the province:

“Tests help us fix any system issues to ensure alerts work when we need them. Tests also provide a valuable opportunity for Albertans to consider their own readiness to respond to an unexpected event like a wildfire."

Phones must be connected to Wi-Fi or LTE to receive the notification, and phones set to silent will only receive a visual notification, according to the province.
