Education Minister Adriana LaGrange appeared during a live conference yesterday to provide an update on what classes might look like this Fall.

LaGrange outlined three scenarios for the resumption of classes: one that would see "near normal" operations resuming with some health regulations in place, one that would see regular classes partially resuming, and a third that would see at-home classes resuming.

She says the goal is to return to class as normal, though the government will be taking some time to make the final decision.

"Based on the information we have at hand right now, we expect that students will be at school in September. Our government will make the final decision on the scenario schools will follow at the beginning of the school year by August 1st, but as I've already stated, we are targeting a return to near normal operations with health measures in place."

The chosen scenario will vary be region and could change depending on geographic data, something LaGrange says school boards need to be ready for.

"All school boards will need to be ready to transition from one scenario to the other on short notice to adapt to any changes in the COVID-19 situation. How we return to in-class learning may vary regionally, and will depend on the number of COVID-19 cases in total in that area."

LaGrange stressed that the final decision will be made by the provincial government, though school authorities will be able to choose how they meet health guidelines.

School boards are also advised to set some money aside for extra cleaning services and materials.

The detailed re-entry plan has been released, and can be viewed here.
