Monday's live COVID-19 update saw 70 new cases reported, with the provincial total now having risen to 5836.

2942 recoveries have now been confirmed.

An additional nine deaths have been confirmed, four of which occurred in the last 24 hours. The other five were previous deaths that had occurred in previous weeks, and have only just having been confirmed to be COVID-19 related. 104 deaths in the province have now been attributed to COVID-19.

936 cases of COVID-19 have now been confirmed among employees of the Cargill Plant North of High River, 810 of whom have recovered. The JBS plant in Brooks has seen 469 cases, with 998 cases in all of Brooks.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw spoke of two poultry facilities in the province whose quick response led to the prevention of potential wider outbreaks, one of which was Mountain View Poultry located West of Okotoks, which saw only two cases before healthcare authorities were notified and action was taken.

Health Minister Tyler Shandro also made an appearance, to give details on the resumption of non-urgent surgeries on the province.

The more urgent surgeries will be given more priority, with those who would be most negatively affected by further delays being treated first.

A centralized booking system has been established, and patients on wait-lists are being contacted for rescheduling.
