The cause of a fire at a home in High River's Montrose neighbourhood could be known by the end of the week.

The fire engulfed a home that was under construction at 494 Monterey Drive southeast early Saturday morning.

Heavy equipment will be brought in Tuesday to move around the pieces that are left so they can determine how the blaze started according to Fire Chief Cody Zebedee.

The home was destroyed, and the siding melted on the house next to it.

There's no damage estimate.
