There are plenty of tales to be told at the Highwood Cemetery in High River.

Curator of the Museum of the Highwood, Irene Kerr says they'll be doing just that on August 26th.

"Larraine Andrews who has written the book Tales From The Highwood Cemetery a couple of years ago, she did a couple of cemetery tours last year and for Historic Calgary week Bill Holmes and I did Fabulous 4th Avenue, but we decided that Larraine would do a cemetery tour in August....it's different, she's kind of going from the chapters in the book and this one is Unsung Heroes and Stories Untold" she said.

Andrews will take visitors on a walking tour, pointing out the interesting stories of the well-known and lesser-known residents of the area's cemetery.

LaneThe Lane family plot, including George Lane, a local rancher and lawyer who help get the Calgary Stampede started and for who the town High River's downtown park is named after.

The tour takes place at 2:00 p.m.

Pre-registration is required.
