It's been a busy day for plow and snow removal crews in High River.

The Town's Operations Manager, Eugene Lund, says they've been busy on the main roads.

"When we have snow events like this, the main focus is Priority one and two roads, that we've identified in our snow and ice policy for the town. And then usually after that we follow up with parking lots and then move on to the Happy Trail pathway system and then to some lane-ways and priority three routes."

Lund, says the priority right now are main roads, while residential streets will only see a plow if they're impassible.

"Generally speaking under the policy we don't put a lot of focus on snow and ice control on those throughout the winter unless we get multiple heavy snow events."

Lund says the Town is also busy clearing the happy trails and sidewalks through downtown.

Town of Okotoks Transportation Manager Jamie Greenshields says now that the snow has slowed down they can try to catch up.

"We're proceeding through the policy and our first routes that we need to address are those main routes, those priority ones in our town to make sure the main arteries are accessible."

Greenshields says once they've tackled the main priorities they'll start to move into the residential areas over the next few days.
