For the third time since taking office, the Prime Minister has come under investigation for an ethics violation.

This time it's over awarding a contract to administer a $900-million student grant program to the "WE" charity, a group with close ties to both Justin Trudeau and his wife.

Foothills MP, John Barlow, says here we go again.

"He doesn't seem to have any concern about ethics or doing the right thing and this is just another example, and not surprised, that this is the response of trying to give this $900 million program to an organization that he and his family are very close to."

Barlow, says the outcry was warranted given the circumstances.

"To see the the Ethics Commissioner announce they're going to go ahead with an investigation is great. But there's got to be some consequences to this. This will be the third, fourth, fifth time, this is ridiculous."

Trudeau has been found guilty twice of ethics violations, over both the SNC-Lavalin scandal and a free trip to a private island owned by the Aga Khan.

Ethics violations aren't criminal charges, and come with a maximum fine of $500.

Following several days of pushback, the "WE" charity has backed away from the contract.
