Two local young ladies have accomplished one of their dreams.

Okotoks resident, 21 year old, dental assistant, Jessica Williams was crowned the new Calgary Stampede Queen.

Williams says, "This is actually my second year trying out, so last year I kind of went into it not knowing a lot about it, just what other people have told me, just being part of the competition last year, and just meeting all the people, it was a great experience from that alone. I knew I had to come back one more time."

She's looking forward to her year.

"Traveling, promoting the Calgary Stampede and just being an ambassador for the city is just amazing, "says Williams.

Originally from Okotoks but now lives in Calgary, Danielle Kakoschke was crowned one of the princesses.

Kakoschke says, "I've been waiting for this moment since I was a little girl, through growing up in the 4-H club I was privileged enough to know many past royalty. They increased my passion to try out this year and I'm so blessed to be here with this opportunity."

Catherine morneau from Exshaw was the other new princess crowned.

The stampede duo will act as official ambassadors of the stampede by promoting western culture and values throughout the year at various events around the world.
