Okotoks RCMP responded to a report of a shooting this afternoon (May 1).

The incident happened in a cul-de-sac in Sheep River Court, with multiple police cruisers and ambulances attending the scene.

Duane Ward, who lives a few doors down from the home that was converged on by police, was an eyewitness to much of the incident.

"I hear 'Help, help, help!' So I went out the front door and I saw a man running, and it was my neighbour running toward the other neighbour's house. He goes 'I've been shot, I've been shot,'" he recalls.

According to Ward, the injured man told him the person who had shot him was still in the home, with a weapon.

Ward says the man collapsed on a neighbour's front stairs and was visibly bleeding.

He then called 911, and waited for the police to arrive.

Upon their arrival, Ward informed officers of what he'd seen and was told to take shelter in his home.

From his front window, he saw officers attempting to coax the person out of the house. He captured a video of a person exiting the home and seemingly surrendering before being taken into custody.
