The Eagle Street Team headed to Black Diamond on Sunday, July 8 for the Ranahan Polocrosse Tournament! Polocrosse is an exciting, young sport in Canada which is fun to watch and incredibly exciting to play! The tournament was completely free for the public to spectate - the nail-biting games kept everyone on their toes! Polocrosse combines the speed, agility, and horsemanship of polo with the precise racket and ball-handling skills of lacrosse. The tournament took place at the Ranahan Polocrosse Club Field which has been functioning since 2011, bringing players of all skill-sets and backgrounds together in the name of the great sport! Members of 4-H, Pony Club, rugby clubs, dog agility groups, and rodeo are also welcome to use the field. The sharing of the field ensures engagement between the different disciplines and an effective use of the land.

During my time there I had the chance to speak to fourteen-year-old Caelee Peterson, who is incredibly passionate about the sport and has been playing for three years. During my time with her, she told me how wonderful and family-friendly the sport is; all individuals are welcome to learn the game and no one is restricted by their age or gender. She tells me how team-energy really builds a bond between members of the club and how these friendships make the sport that much more exciting to engage in! Her favourite thing about polocrosse is the exhilaration one gets from making a successful play and watching one's self grow through the sport. Thanks for talking with me Caelee!

The Ranahan Polocrosse Club is always looking for new or visiting players to participate in their exciting sport. They have divisions to accommodate individuals of all skill sets so learn some new and make some great friends through the innovative sport!
