Monday was a tough day for comic book and movie fans as one of the bright lights of the genre was extinguished with the passing of 95 year old Stan Lee.

Sometimes it seemed that Stan could go forever, but age finally caught up to the man who shaped so many of our childhoods and taught us you don't have to wear a mask and cape or have powers to be a Super Hero.

Stan Lee was the comic book world.

He, along with some other creative geniuses created characters like Spider Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Avengers, Ant Man and so many, many more.

His comics were turned into Movies & TV shows.

Some good, some bad, but to most fans it was the comics and the bigger than life persona of Stan Lee that will be remembered most.

Many, and I mean, many of us got to meet Stan during his appearances at the Calgary and Edmonton Expo's over the last few years.

For most of us it was a quick few seconds having a photo taken, or a couple of quick words exchanged with Stan while getting his autograph on a prized comic book.

But for Corey Hallisey, his creativity ended up with some unique time spent with the Marvel Comics Legend.

While Corey stood in line to get his photo's and autographs too, he came up with something for Stan to enjoy.

As most of us know, when Marvel started to produce movies featuring Stan's characters, the creator himself would turn up in cameo's in every one of those films, usually to comic effect.

So, Corey finding an app on his IPad turned screen grabs of those appearances into a comic book that he put together as a "gift for Stan."

He says it was a hit as the comic creator admired his creativity and even sent him an e-mail a couple of days after receiving the first copy to thank him for it.

Corey titled the comics he made for Stan, "Stan Lee: Movie Star" and went on to produce three more that he presented to Stan on subsequent visits.

He even gave one to Calgary born, Todd McFarlane, who in his own right is a genius in the comic book world and learned a lot from Stan Lee.

He says McFarlane got a kick out of the book.

Hallisey says he was busy working on a fifth issue at the time of Stan's death and will now finish it as a tribute to Lee.

So long Stan!

And thanks for everything!
