Wednesday, June 6th, 2018 was Tim Hortons Camp Day all across Canada! The Eagle Street Team headed to the Southridge Tim Hortons in Okotoks to participate in the all-day event. Camp Day involves all proceeds from hot coffee sales at participating Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada being donated to the Tim Horton Children's Foundation (or THCF). These funds will directly assist youths from lower-income homes to attend a life-altering experience at a Tim Horton's Camp. There are currently seven of these camps are located across North America in Ontario, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Kentucky, Manitoba, and Alberta. The first camp was opened in 1975 in Parry Sound, Ontario and welcomed 200 campers. Since then, the programs have continued to thrive!
As youth from low-income homes face additional obstacles when it comes to academic performance, relationship building and physical and emotional well-being, the THCF camp experience is designed to assist kids unlock their inner strengths, build self-worth, develop critical life skills, and find their own success. This will not only allow them to thrive as a contributing member of their communities but give them the confidence they need to be the leaders of tomorrow. Over the past twenty-five years, more than 175 million dollars have been raised for the foundation, sending more than 257 000 kids to camp!
The Eagle Team's very own Logan Coutts and Tom Barker were on location providing customers in the drive-through with a large smile to brighten their day and a window wipe-down with a small donation. For the third year, guests can also donate $2.00 to receive a limited edition Camp Day bracelet. The proceeds collected will also be donated to the Tim Horton Children's Foundation.
