Two local fitness aficionados helped locals break a sweat and help the Okotoks Food Bank.

Tamara Boivin and Taunya Porter held a Zumba and Yoga class on New Year's Eve at the Crescent Point Field House with all of their donations and entry fees going to the food bank's cash account.

Boivin says the mix of fast paced Zumba and zen like Yoga was well received from the participants and the food bank.

"We had a wonderful group of people that came and we raised over $425 for the food bank and we did it by doing what we like to do," she says.

Porter who took take of the Yoga during the session says the Food Bank does so much for the community and especially in times like these so it's nice to give back.

"When we were speaking with Sheila Hughes, we went down to present her with the cheque, so we got to see the fabulous facility that we have here in the community and it was inspiring how keen she is to helping the community."

At the end of the day Porter says she was impressed by the way her Yoga and Zumba goers were when it came to working out and donating to their cause.

"It was so enjoyable to just have people come out from the community, just to get together and have a great time sending them into the new year sparkling."
