The High River and District Health Care Foundation's Points of Light campaign is back again this year.

Claire Senger, the daughter of the late Dr. Len Senger, was on hand this year to throw the switch and turn on the lights at the front of the hospital.

"It's great, it's the 22nd year so it's pretty amazing that the hospital and the community support such a great initiative," she says. "My dad worked at the hospital for a number of years and he really loved the people and the community so it's great to see that the hospital remembers him as well as others in High River."

Michael Brown, the Executive Director of the foundation says donors can purchase a bulb on the trees in front of the hospital to honour a loved one who has passed away or anyone who has made a difference in their lives.

"All the funds that we raise out of this program go to support our spiritual care program and our palliative care program," Brown says. "Last year we raised $17,000 and our hope is we'll do the same this year."

Brown says we all have lots of stuff, so making a donation in someone's memory to such a great cause is the perfect gift at Christmas time.
