The Okotoks Big Bike Ride for the Heart and Stroke Foundation is in the books for another year.

The ride had two 30 seat bikes driving around town, making pit stops where the group took part in Zumba and fitness classes.

Participants cooling down after the ride.

Organizer and team captain Tamara Boivin says the expectation was high with this being the fourth annual event, and it was great as she hoped.

"The day was fantastic as always. The energy was amped up, and it keeps getting better each year."

Boivin adds another reason the energy on the ride was high was that they found out Sunday morning they had reached their $10,000 goal. The final tally will be released later in the week.

Boivin says people going out of their way to fundraise for such a great cause is part of what makes this ride so great.

"Bringing the community together after all of the work, it makes me emotional talking about it."

Boivin and other organizers are already thinking about next year's ride.

"We are hoping to have a live band for next year. We need to make it a really big celebration with it being our fifth annual, but we can't do it without everybody else and the community coming together," Boivin says.

Another idea that Boivin is thinking about for next year's ride is adding the highway to the route.
