Residents in the Foothills should be used to snow by now, but after a nice spring reprieve it looks as though Winter is about to blow back into Town!

Environment Canada has issued a Snow Fall Warning for the following areas.

  • M.D. of Foothills near Cayley
  • M.D. of Foothills near High River and Aldersyde
  • M.D. of Foothills near Longview and Eden Valley Res.
  • M.D. of Foothills near Okotoks and De Winton
  • M.D. of Foothills near Priddis and Brown-Lowery Prov. Park
  • M.D. of Foothills near Turner Valley and Black Diamond
  • M.D. of Willow Creek near Claresholm and Stavely
  • M.D. of Willow Creek near Nanton and Parkland
  • Rocky View Co. near Bragg Creek and Tsuu T'ina Res.

We should expect 10 - 15 cm's throughout tomorrow and Friday with a risk of freezing rain.

It looks like the storm will start in North of the province and sweep through the Foothills, with the heaviest amounts of snow falling from Red Deer to Milk River, including Calgary and Lethbridge.  Environment Canada advises that some areas may receive up to 20 cm locally before the snow tapers off by Friday morning.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions as visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
