Environment has ended their special weather statement for the Foothills, and instead replaced it with a winter storm warning.

There's a low pressure system rolling through Alberta this afternoon / evening. It's bringing rain with it, and a drop in temperatures over night will bring snow.

Snowfall amounts between Calgary and Claresholm currently look close to 10 cm, while areas to the south east of us, can expect closer to 20 cm.

Strong winds of 60 gusting to 90 km/h are expected to develop, the strongest winds are expected to subside on Monday afternoon.

These strong winds will combine with the falling snow to reduce visibility in some areas.

Reduced visibility and wet / frozen road surfaces may make driving a challenge, it is recommended that you slow down, turn your head lights on and be prepared to drive in winter conditions.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.storm.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ABStorm.
