Members of the Wildrose party vote today on the question of coming together with the Progressive Conservative's and forming a united front to fight the NDP in the next election.

Wildrose party president Jeff Callaway says says it's important every member votes because they need over 75 per cent of voters to approve the merger for it to proceed.

He says there are a lot of Albertans that believe this is is the way to go.

"The massive surge in our membership levels, which have more than doubled since just the middle of May is a reflection of that, " he says. "I think we've honestly got a decision here between  the prosperity of this province versus a path of dependency and debt with the current NDP government."

Callaway admits not everyone may be on board with a merger.

"I think what we've come around to through the massive renewal that's gone through the PC party and I think with the grassroots nature of our party, you're never going to get 100 per cent of people to agree on anything of course, but that's the nature of democracy and they're absoluetly entitled to their opinions, but I think if this deal ends up passing on Saturday I hope we all stay in the same tent and we can continue these vigorous debates and shape this party going forward," Calloway says.
