Horseback riders from one end of Alberta to the other will gather once again in the days ahead to help raise money for cancer research as the annual "Wild Pink Yonder" ride takes to the trail.

Event Organizer and Trail Boss ane hurl says they kick things off Friday, August 7.

"We're going to 'Fandango' in Cardston this year and then we're headed off to Waterton Lakes for our first day of riding. And then every day we're working our way up the Eastern Slopes of the Rockies until we get to Hinton. The we're making a hard right, and heading to Edmonton."

Hurl says for her the ride is a personal one.

She says going into it's seventh year, it's something she wants to keep on doing.

"I'm the person who designed this thing. And I did it because I had breast cancer. And about the same time I had breast cancer my step daughter got it too. And then in year two of 'Wild Pink Yonder' she died. So that made it doubley important for me that we find a cure."

Hurl says this years ride will be different.

Instead of riding to each community for an event, they'll truck in and each host community will take riders onto their best riding trails for a day long ride.

The ride will pass through Nanton, High River and Okotoks August 12, 13 and 14.

Local organizer Sandra Beatie says "Mantracker" Terry Grant will make an appearance as well.

Not for the ride, but he will be on hand for the "Beef on a Bun" fundraiser on the 13th at 6 o'clock at the rodeo grounds.

He'll be signing autographs and posing for photo's.
