A familiar face to High Riverites will be back town Thursday to talk about his book "13 Ways to Kill Your Community."

It's part of the business after hours speaker series.

Griffiths who was the Minister of Municipal Affairs under Alison Redford says his book is based on experience.

"They're going to hear stories, they're all true stories of people who've told me or I've witnessed first hand about how communities has gone about sabotaging their own success. And then each one is typically followed up by an explanation of what communities have done to overcome that challenge and turn their community around."

Simply put, Griffiths was not well loved by High Riverites during the 2013 flood when he led the charge in the clean-up and recovery efforts for the Alberta Tories.

Griffiths says he's aware some in the community will have some animosity towards him.

"I'm sure, in an emergency like that not everybody's going to be happy with the decisions, and some of them may come up. I hope people aren't coming to talk about something that happened two years ago when I'm not a minister and not in politics anymore, because it will speak exactly to the chapter about living in the past."

The evening starts at 5:30 P.M. at the Highwood Golf Club with a reception and networking and is followed by the presentation at 7 o'clock.
