Grade 8 students from Westmount Schools Outdoor Leadership class took time out of their day Friday afternoon to clean up the Okotoks Lions Campground.

Outdoor Ed teacher Steven Kotowich says that the Okotoks Lions Club has done quite a bit to support the school and the Outdoor Ed program financially that they wanted to give something back.

Westmount School received $3500 from the Okotoks Lions club in March.

$1200 of the donation went to a tent for the school and the other $2500 went to helping students who want to do the programs but can't afford it, especially in the tough economic times.

Kotowich thought that with Friday being Earth Day the students cleaning up the camp ground would be a fantastic project for the students and thank you to the Club.

Annie and Erika are two of the students in the class and say that doing the project means a lot to them because this is the community they are growing up in and they want it to be nice and clean.
