Looks like the 2026 winter Olympics won't be coming to Calgary.

Over 304,000 Calgarians voted in Tuesday's plebiscite with just under 172,000, or around 56.4 per cent, voting "no".

It's a non-binding plebiscite and the final say is still Calgary City Council's.

They're expected to formally stop the bid process during a vote next week.

The provincial and federal government's had pledged money to the bid, a little over $2 billion, but it all hinged on Calgarians voting "yes".
