With the Calgary Stampede on its final day today perhaps you should check out the Bar U Ranch National Historic Site display and then make plans to go for a visit.

They are set up in between the two ag barns with their heavy horses.

Mike McLean, special projects officer, says they are happy to be back on the grounds this year.

"It has been a great year although it can be a little hot some days," said McLean. "The sunshine seems to bring people out. We've been loving the opportunity to engage people about all the great things happening at the Bar U National Historic Site."

He added it is a great opportunity to engage people from all over the world and  step back to where the Calgary Stampede has its roots with the Bar U and the big founding ranches in Southern Alberta.

He says they get a combination of people that know of the ranch and love it, to others who have driven by and wonder what it is about.

Upcoming events at the Bar U include a trail ride, cowboy concert by Pekisko Creek and the old time ranch rodeo.

It is a great time to visit the ranch this year because the Bar U is part of the national parks that are free to visit for Canada's 150th birthday.
