A severe thunderstorm waring is in effect for the Foothills.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch Thursday morning saying conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that could bring damaging wind gusts and hail, and heavy rain.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop along the foothills during the afternoon and head east towards the Saskatchewan border in the evening with the potential to be severe.

The streets of Okotoks were full of hail after the storm on June 28

Environment Canada says they're tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail, and heavy rain.
