Turner Valley residents will soon have the convenience of their own medical clinic.

Foothills Family Medical Centre in Black Diamond was approached by Kelly Tuck, mayor of Turner Valley, saying the PharmaChoice pharmacy was looking to open a clinic in the bay next to them. The two have since joined forces for the new satellite clinic.

Glenda Craig, office manager at Foothills Family Medical Centre, says they'll be offering multiple services to residents at the new Diamond Valley Medical Clinic.

"We're going to have Monday to Friday openings and same day appointments," she explains. "We'll have one doctor initially at the site with the intent to have two down the road, and general practice."

The current physicians at Foothills Family Medical Centre will each spend one day a week at the Diamond Valley Medical Clinic.

Craig says the clinic will be valuable to the area.

"This is a step for us in getting more exposure for the physicians in our area and we're offering new patient appointments so we are open in the Foothills Family Medical Centre and in the Diamond Valley Medical Clinic to taking new patients so I think it'll be very beneficial for the community."

The Diamond Valley Medical Clinic on Sunset Boulevard is scheduled to be open by the end of August.
