The Provincial Government will hold the line on post secondary tuition's for students.

They're continuing their tuition freeze for one more year.

Advanced Education Minister Marlin Schmidt says it makes sense with our current economy.

"Everything from the cost of rent and textbooks and food, the cost of education is getting out of control and so the tuition freeze is one way the Government can help to make sure education stays affordable for Alberta students."

The freeze will stay in effect through the 2017-2018 academic year.

Schmidt says they intend to have a new tuition model in place for the following year, so they'll spend the next few months consulting with Albertans', students and post secondary institutions to help come up with the plan.

He says they intend to have a new tuition and funding model in place in the budget for the 2018-2019 academic year.
