The Crescent Point Field House in Aldersyde saw a little Olympic action on Saturday as RBC's Training Ground rolled through town.

RBC and the Canadian Olympic Committee partnered with National Sports Organizations to search for Canada's next Olympian.

Pam Done, Community Manager with RBC in Okotoks, says athletes went through physical testing and also mental tests.

"They're looking for a lot of strength, things like endurance and the ability to push themselves."

Done says RBC started this initiative to give back and support the country's youth, something she feels is very important.

"We're very much about supporting Canadian youth and sport, we've been sponsoring the Olympic Dream since 1947 and it's building our future and our youth and pumping them up." She adds "Hopefully we'll see one of these people here today on the podium in 2022."

Athletes from all over the region came out to participate, Done says they started at 9 a.m. and went strong until the very end.

"I would say a few hundred people have already come through, we started at 9:30 this morning and we're still going strong."

Athletes that have Olympic potential will be chosen and invited to participate in a regional competition in Calgary on May 6th.

Those that succeed will be offered funding, professional training and coaching, and a chance to go to the 2022 Olympics to experience it as an Olympian.
