The search for two-year-old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette ended in tragedy Tuesday night with news the RCMP had found found her dead near Blairmore.

RCMP Superintendent Tony Hamori talked to reporters around 10 P.M. Tuesday night.

"It is my very sad duty tonight to inform you that we have found the body of two year old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette in a rural location near Blairmore, Alberta. The body was located during a police search based on information received by investigators in their efforts to locate Hailey. The location of the discovery has been secured and investigators are now working to process the scene."

Hamori says they've arrested a 22 year old Blairmore man.

"The male suspect who was arrested in Blairmore earlier today (Tuesday), remains in police custody for questioning in relation to the investigation into the homicide of Terry Blanchette, and her (Hailey's) disappearance. Charges are pending. Police will provide the identity of the suspect after charges are laid in these matters."

Mounties have scheduled a news conference for 10 A.M. Wednesday to update the media on the investigation.
