Foothills residents have a chance to learn about what's offered in their own community this weekend with the Okotoks Chamber and District Trade and Lifestyle Show.

The event has grown from last year going from 154 booths to 171.

Cheryl Actemichuk, CEO of the Okotoks Chamber, says the show is a great way to learn about what's offered in Okotoks to help keep shopping local.

"Let's all come together as a community and as a surrounding area and come and check out the local vendors," she says. "There's never been a better time for us to really look to our community and support the business people in our own town especially during these economic times."

The Festival of Flavours will be taking place Saturday at the show where for $2 people can purchase a ticket and use it to get a generous sample from the restaurants involved which includes Cha Cha John's, Bradley's, Roma, Denny's, Marble Slab, Original Joe's and Rebel Bean.

Actemichuk says the event sold out for booths and has taken over the Okotoks Recreation Centre.

"We have the Murray Arena and Piper Arena full of vendors and businesses from across our region and the curling rink has vehicles from dealerships and there'll be boats to look at."

The trade show kicks off Friday night and goes from 5:00- 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Admission is $2 per person and $5 per family while seniors get in free.
