The Town of Okotoks is asking residents to keep their swales clear.

Under the Storm Drainage Bylaw 18-13 it is the responsibility of property owners with a swale to ensure it is unobstructed by snow, ice, leaves and other debris.

Keeping a swale in good condition will ensure water drains away from an individual's home, their neighbours homes, and into the storm sewer preventing flooding and property damage.

The Town asks residents to keep in mind if they have a swale on their property, neighbours behind and beside them must be able to drain their lawn and property to the swale as well.

More information on swale responsibilities and bylaws can be found here.
