The Okotoks spray park is a great way for families to cool down when the temperatures start to heat up.

The spray park has been under construction since last August and is seeing it's features increase from 12 to 24.

Tim Arnholz, aquatic supervisor for the Town of Okotoks, says a few changes have been made behind the scenes as well.

"We've changed the configuration of it, we couldn't operate it in the old operations area so we've brought the mechanical building above ground, we've changed the chlorine and acid feed system so there's no longer any liquid chlorine on site. It's all being fed by chlorine pucks and acid control is done through carbon dioxide."

Arnholz says there's just a few finishing touches left.

"We're getting the sod laid around it and planting some grass so that those kids when they come will have the opportunity to run around on the outside of it without getting muddy."

The spray park operates everyday where the temperature is above 20 degrees and is open from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m., when there's been a series of warm days the park may be open earlier and stay open later.

A grand opening for the park is planned for June 11.
