Another victory for the Town of Okotoks.

In the first issue of Canadian Property Investor the town was ranked tenth in the top 50 places in Canada to invest in.

Economic development specialist for the Town of Okotoks Alexandra Ross says it's a great accomplishment for the town.

"We are thrilled having achieved the top ten spot for places to invest in in Canada. Especially since we are the only Alberta community in the top ten with Calgary and Edmonton taking 41st and 42nd place we are considered the top Alberta market to invest in."

Ross says there are a handful of factors that ranked the town in the top ten.

"I think it is definitely because of our quality of life, our cutting edge green initiatives, our active community and the amenities we are providing, like transportation and our pathways, as well as the proximity to Calgary certainly had an impact on our rating."

Many still look to Okotoks for business, relocation and start ups even with the economic downturn.

Ross says part of the reason for this is with new construction comes new opportunities.

"Our current commercial and industrial construction values exceed all of 2015 and the year is not over yet. The completion of some of that construction that you can see in South Bank will definitely lead to a lot of jobs in 2017-2018."

To keep up the quality reputation of Okotoks the town plans on ramping up investments and programs for businesses in town currently in 2017.

The town also hopes to attract more light industries, technology, greener industries and unique retail and restaurants for the downtown area.
